About Our Products

mahogany wine cellar

WineRacks.com wine racks are manufactured at our plant in the Hudson Valley of New York. We use high quality raw materials and expert construction to produce a product that will store your wine in style for a lifetime.

WineRacks.com has carefully chosen the raw materials for our racking because they are all attractive, moisture tolerant and very durable. Our racking is primarily manufactured out of the following species of wood:

LyptusLyptus: Lyptus™ is a trademark name for hardwood lumber products manufactured from selected Eucalyptus species. Planted and grown on well-managed plantations in Brazil, Lyptus™ hardwood products are grown to sustainable certification standards. Eucalyptus trees grow very quickly and may be harvested within 14-16 years of planting. The Brazil mills use virtually every portion of the log, converting it not only to lumber and by-products but using residuals as bio-energy to fuel the mill. Lyptus™ hardwood is harder than red and white oak and can exceed hickory in terms of density. It varies in color from dark red to light pink and accepts stain very well so can be finished to resemble mahogany or cherry.

MahoganyMahogany: Mahogany is a heavy and very stable hardwood with coloring that varies from almost white to a deep brown. The grain is usually straight and slightly lustrous, and the wood is naturally decay and moisture resistant. Mahogany also takes stain and finish well.

Oak
Red Oak:
Oak is hard and heavy with a straight grain with coloring varying from white to pinkish reddish brown. It takes stain and finish very well so can be made to match most any décor.
